Organizing a Conference on the Role of E-Learning in Developing Egypt’s Educational System

ELCC organized a conference on the role of e-Learning in developing Egypt’s educational systems in collaboration with the e-laboratories project, which is an EU funded project. The conference took place on the 15th of December 2014, and had participants from   various entities who are concerned and involved in this field.

H.E Engineer. Atef Helmy, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, H.E. Dr. Mahmoud Abou-ALnasr, Minister of Education as well as Dr. Ashraf Hatem, General Secretary of the Supreme Council of Universities inaugurated the opening of the conference and the accompanying showroom.

An MOU was signed during the conference between MCIT, the Supreme Council of Universities and the Ain Shams University. The MOU covered the launching of a virtual electronic lab which aims to transfer expertise from the project’s partners to all Egyptian universities, which will help in brining ICT into modern educational systems in Egypt, and thus aiding in resolving some of the current system challenges, improving educational outputs, as well as availing the educational expertise to students anytime in any geographic location.

The project also aims to develop 5 different experiments from each Egyptian university with attention to the fields of physics and engineering experiments, which will require each university to provide a number of proposed experiments, to reach about 80 to 100 laboratory experiments that will subsequently offer virtual training for almost 10 thousand university students from various universities, which will decrease the university budget allocated to purchase equipment and training material

Moreover, an exhibition was held on par with the conference, which highlighted the most important virtual experiments that shed light on the importance of e-learning in Egypt. The exhibition also showcased the project’s outputs with the aim of transferring experiences and knowledge to those interested in the field.
