The E-Learning Competence Center (ELCC) participated in the Entrepreneurship First Symposium that was held in Abu Dhabi on the 26th of April 2010 in support of the U.S. Presidential Summit on Entrepreneurship held in Washington, DC.
This symposium, which was held under the title "From U.A.E to Washington D.C.: A New Beginning realized", gathered local and regional experts to speak about the importance of Entrepreneurship education and to share ideas about ways of developing entrepreneurship regionally.
ELCC participated in two sessions of the symposium, one on Public Private Partnerships where ELCC Director Yasser Kazem gave a speech on “Public Private Partnerships as a Catalyst for Entrepreneurship Development” and the other on case studies of large scaled deployment of entrepreneurship education where the Business Development Manager at the center gave a presentation on ELCC Entrepreneurship Education Program.
On the sidelines of the symposium, ELCC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Knowledge Horizon, the organizer of the event and a leading international knowledge transfer organization that promotes excellence in learning.
The agreement aims at disseminating proven e-Learning practices and leveraging e-Learning technology as an enabler for delivering wide access and scalable entrepreneurship education to the masses in the region.
Based on the agreement, Knowledge Horizon and the ELCC will jointly organize awareness events and workshops to foster the development of entrepreneurship in the region and support ongoing communities of practice.
The two parties will collaborate in providing training and qualifying staff to develop and manage e-Learning programs in addition to providing sharing mechanism for technology, curricula and operating expertise in the e-Learning field and providing technical support structure for countries in the region.
Based on the agreement, Knowledge Horizon and the ELCC will jointly organize awareness events and workshops to foster the development of entrepreneurship in the region and support ongoing communities of practice.
ELCC Director Yasser Kazem and Knowledge Horizon President Dr. Ma'en Al Qatamin co-signed the agreement.
The event included a live broadcast of the Presidential Summit on Entrepreneurship from Washington D.C. and interactive session with US officials.
The Entrepreneurship First Symposium brought together approximately 250 successful entrepreneurs from more than fifty countries to identify ways to advance economic and social entrepreneurship; build networks among stakeholders in entrepreneurship; and provide an opportunity to establish partnerships that advance entrepreneurship.

The presidential Summit on the entrepreneurship held in Washington, D.C. on April 26 and 27, 2010.Delegates, have been selected from around the world to represent their home countries, regions, sectors, and communities at the summit. They include successful entrepreneurs, investors, academics, and leaders, of entrepreneurship networks, non-profits, foundations, and business who are interested in promoting business or social entrepreneurship in Muslim communities around the world.
